Preparation
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES
- In Good Condition: Wash down with a suitable detergent, rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Abrade with 280 320 grade (grit) paper and remove sanding dust.
- In Poor Condition: Remove all previous coatings and prime the substrate.
BARE WOOD/PLYWOOD: Sand smooth with 80-180 and then 280 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing or dusting. Wipe down thoroughly with solvent and allow to dry completely. Ensure that residual sanding dust is removed before product application. Prime using an International Primer.
OILY WOODS e.g. Teak: Ensure that the surface is thoroughly degreased using a suitable solvent to ensure all oils are removed. Sand smooth with 80-180 and then 280 grade paper. Remove sanding dust by brushing or dusting. Wipe down thoroughly with solvent and allow to dry completely. Ensure that residual sanding dust is removed before product application. Prime using an International Primer.
ALUMINIUM: Degrease with solvent or suitable detergent cleaner. Sand well using 60-120 grade (aluminium compatible) paper. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry. Prime using an International primer as soon as possible (within 8 hours) following product recommendations.
STEEL: Degrease with solvent or suitable detergent cleaner. Gritblast to Sa 2½ near white metal surface. If gritblasting is not possible, grind the metal surface with 24-36 grit abrasive discs to a uniform, clean, bright metal surface with a 50 75 microns anchor pattern.
GRP: Degrease with solvent or suitable detergent cleaner. Sand well using 180-220 grade paper. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry completely. No primer required , apply an International Prekote Undercoat direct to GRP.
AGED/WEATHERED GELCOATS: Degrease with solvent or suitable detergent cleaner. Sand well using 180220 gradeper. Clean thoroughly and allow to dry completely. To avoid potential pinholing, apply 3 coats of an International 2 packepoxy primer which must be then overcoated with an International 2 pack undercoat prior to topcoat application.
ALL SUBSTRATES: Use One UP.
ALL BARE SURFACES: Use a suitable primer system followed by One UP as a primer and apply in 2 coats. Note: a polyester gelcoat can be directly treated with One UP and Super Gloss HS.

Hints
- Thinner: Thinner No.1; consult with local representative for temperatures >25°C
- Thinning: 010% v/v (maximum) may be added to ease application (depending on colour)
- Cleaner: Thinner No.1
- Brush: Thinning is not usually required.
- Roller: Thinning is not usually required.
- Ventilation and Humidity Control: Apply in dry, well ventilated conditions. Avoid applying late in the evening ascondensation can cause a loss of gloss overnight.
